Student Speaker Application
All September and December 2018 graduates and/or May 2019 degree candidates are invited to submit a speech that, if chosen, will be given at the commencement ceremony. All speeches must be submitted by midnight on March 20, 2019.
The selection committee will first review all anonymous submissions and narrow it down to several finalists. Finalists will be asked to deliver their speeches to the selection committee at a later date.
During the spring semester, we will be hosting student speaker information sessions on the do’s and don’t’s of what makes a good commencement speech. There will be a total of two sessions.
- Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 12PM
- Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 12PM
Both sessions will be hosted in the Chaplin Family Study Room in the Brodhead Center.

Student Speaker Selection Committee Application
All September and December 2018 graduates and/or May 2019 degree candidates are invited to serve on the selection committee to select the student speaker. The selection committee includes students, faculty, and staff. Factors such as campus involvement, school, and reason for wanting to serve determine an applicant’s selection for the committee.
Complete the application by midnight on March 4, 2019 to apply for the selection committee.
